Woman faces manslaughter charge in connection with Pikwàkanagàn death

Police were called to a home in Pikwàkanagàn Monday night after Jospeh Sarazin, 58, was found dead.

A 61-year-old woman has been charged with manslaughter after a man’s body was found in a home in the Algonquins of Pikwàkanagàn Ontario First Nation near Golden Lake. The victim has been identified as Joseph Sarazin, 58, of Pikwàkanagàn.Police were called to a home on Kagagimin Inamo, a street in Pikwàkanagàn, shortly after 7 p.m. on Monday night after Sarazin was found dead. Pikwàkanagàn is about 15 kilometres west of Eganville.

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on Friday, said OPP Thursday.

The investigation involved a number of police units including the Renfrew County Crime Unit and OPP Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

The OPP say they are unable to comment further as the matter is now before the courts.
